Great project work in writing an
Education and Training Framework and Wakefield Primary Care General Practice
Transformation Strategy. The Learning and Development Programme of fully
funded (ie free) training has gone down very well with your class mates. It
has been good to see that we have had 452 attendees on courses run by A
Cademy from every GP Practice in Wakefield except two

A Cademy’s written work has been very
good with the writing and publication of Clinical Supervision and
Preceptorship guidelines. Its is howeveredisappointing that despite great
effort there has been minimal achievement in the more practical aspects of
this module. The Advanced Training Practice only supported 5 HCA apprentices
and no GPN Ready nurses – this was very disappointing. Even more
disappointing was the failure to recruit a single Physicians Associate for
the very imaginative PA Rotation with your local mental health Trust and
Spectrum. And as to progress on International Recruitment for GPs you may as
well have whistled in the wind …. Frankly A Cademy needs to do much, much
more in this critical subject.

A Cademy has supported an ILM 5
development programme for Practice Managers that was exceedingly well
received and evaluated. A Cademy has noted a need for Practice Nurse
leadership training and has been concerned at the lack of local Practice
Nurse leaders prepared to help A Cademy with his studies. To this end A
Cademy prepared a bid to HEE for monies for a local Nurse Leadership
programme but as with all good ideas HEE thought that it was such a good idea
they could do it better! Of course that was a few months ago and A Cademy is
disappointed to learn that it seems to have disappeared inside HEE.

A Cademy has made sterling progress in
this subject. A Cademys blog has had 2357 page views from the UK, other EU
countries and as far afield as India and Russia. His presence on Skyline has
been as good with 1905 hits so far. Indeed the Chair of Wakefield CCG was so
impressed with our engagement he praised A Cademy for sending him three
copies of every blog! We have also been out to schools and colleges at
Careers Fairs and have a very impressive poster, table cloth and we have
found a tin of Celebrations works wonders to start conversations about
working in the health service.

A Cademy has been central to the running
of the District Nurse and GP TARGET events. A Cademy is very excited by
involvement in the Go Higher in Healthcare project that wants to increase the
number of school children from disadvantaged backgrounds attending Higher
Education Institutes.

A Cademy has been a joy to have in the
school this year. They have tirelessly taken part in every class they have
participated in. They are definitely a can do person. Their exam results have
been very good but they should not be too disappointed that they have not
converted some of their effort into results especially in the core practical
aspects of the curriculum. Their failure to deliver has been as much about
the failure of other partners to deliver their share of the work and the lack
of progress does not rest unduly with A Cademy.
